  • 1985 Electrowave Established

  • 1990 First of multiple SA Navy Fast Attack Strikecraft PMS systems commissioned

  • 1993 Commercial scale GSM Cellular base station rollout begins

  • 1996 First of multiple Portnet PMCS upgrade projects for harbour tugboats commences

  • 1997 Cellular Infrastructure site build projects commence

  • 1997 Regional cellular site maintenance project commences

  • 1999 Electrowave achieves accreditation & sells 26% shareholding to Igoda.

2000 – 2010

  • 2000 Electrowave becomes a member of global Bluetooth Special Interest Group

  • 2002 National highway SOS pillars using Bluetooth deployed on N2 highway

  • 2003 Electrowave develops a Bluetooth car kit “Cabchat” that is OEM fitted to TMSA vehicles

  • 2005 UMTS “3G” project rollouts begin

2010 –

  • 2012 LTE “4G” rollout projects start

  • 2014 National cellular Network radio equipment modernization rollout commences

  • 2019 HDI ownership of Electrowave increased to 100%
